We are looking for a new roommate, We are a mixed residential group of a total of 6 people, located on the fifth (highest) floor of a renovated warehouse in the center of Groningen. The warehouse was designated as a municipal monument some time ago. It is therefore one of the most beautiful places in Groningen. You have a unique view of the Hoge der A and the city center. The landlord is a housing corporation. But we ourselves have the deciding vote in nominating the new tenant. This means that you do not need points for the allocation of the accommodation, but you do need our vote. For the new resident, we have a slight preference for a man: we know from experience that the residential group thrives best with a composition of 50% - 50%. Furthermore, we prefer to look for someone who has already completed his studies or is at least a bit further in the study, i.e. not a starting student. After all, we are all a bit older. It is important that there is a 'click' with the fellow residents. We don't knock on each other's doors, but we do value a good mutual understanding. The current residents form a cheerful mix both in terms of interest and age. The landlord is therefore a housing corporation and it concerns a so-called non-self-contained living space. It is good to know that you can apply for housing benefit if you meet the requirements. On the other hand, the housing corporation applies the income limit of a maximum of € 49,669 (price level 2025) for social rental housing for this living space. If your income falls above this, you are not eligible for the accommodation. By the way, it's about the moment of the nomination, if you start earning more in the future, that's fine. The living space consists of a room of over 25 square meters, as well as your share in the very spacious common room of about 45 square meters, the shared kitchen, the two showers, the four toilets, and the shared (small) internal bicycle shed. The basic rent is around € 456 per month, but the housing corporation also charges around € 172 for service and heating costs. The gross rent therefore amounts to a total of approximately € 627 per month. You also pay your water bill (NB gas and electricity are already included in the gross rent). We also have a washing machine and dryer together, we have a subscription for TV and fast internet and finally we jointly employ a housekeeper, who takes care of the common areas 2x a month.
